§ 10.12.010. Emerging from alley, driveway or building.

The driver of any vehicle emerging from an alley, driveway or building shall stop such vehicle immediately prior to driving onto a sidewalk or sidewalk area extending across any alley or driveway or shall stop immediately prior to entering a street where there is no sidewalk crossing such alley or driveway.

§ 10.12.020. Driving through funeral processions.

It is unlawful for a driver of a vehicle to drive between vehicles comprising a funeral procession while they are in motion and when the vehicles in such procession are conspicuously so designated.

§ 10.12.030. Clinging to moving vehicles.

It is unlawful for any person riding upon any bicycle, motorcycle, coaster, roller skates or any toy vehicle to attach the same or himself or herself to any moving vehicle upon any roadway.

§ 10.12.035. Use of skateboard prohibited.

It is unlawful for any person to ride on or operate any skateboard or similar device on the roadway portion of any street; nor shall any person in any retail commercial district, ride on or operate any skateboard or similar device on any sidewalk or public or privately owned parking lot.

§ 10.12.040. Driving on sidewalk.

It is unlawful for the driver of a vehicle to drive within any sidewalk area or any parkway except at a permanent or temporary driveway.

§ 10.12.050. New pavement.

It is unlawful for any person to ride or drive any animal or any vehicle over or across any newly made pavement or freshly painted marking in any street when a barrier or sign is in place warning persons not to drive over or across such pavement or marking, or when a sign is in place stating that the street or any portion thereof is closed.

§ 10.12.060. Traffic barriers.

It is unlawful for any person to operate a vehicle contrary to the directions or provisions of any barrier or sign erected:

(a) Pursuant to the provisions of any ordinance of the city of Sunnyvale, or

(b) By any public utility, or

(c) By any department of the city of Sunnyvale, or

(d) By any other person pursuant to law or contract with the city, nor shall any unauthorized person move or alter the position of any such barrier or signs.

§ 10.12.070. Restricted access.

It is unlawful for any person to drive a vehicle onto or from any limited access roadway except at such entrances and exits as are established by public authority.

§ 10.12.080. Restrictions on use of freeways or expressways.

(a) It is unlawful for any person to drive or operate any bicycle, motor-driven cycle, motorized scooter or any vehicle which is not drawn by a motor vehicle upon any street established as a freeway or expressway, as defined by state law, except as described in subsection (b).

(b) Any person may operate a bicycle along and upon any expressway within the boundaries of the city of Sunnyvale, provided that the operation of the bicycle is otherwise in compliance with applicable provisions of this code and the California Vehicle Code.

§ 10.12.090. Violation—Infraction.

Any person violating any of the provisions set forth in this chapter shall be guilty of an infraction and upon conviction thereof shall be punished as set forth in Chapter 1.04 of this code, with the exception that any person violating the provisions of Sections 10.12.010, 10.12.040, 10.12.060, and 10.12.080 shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punished as set forth in Chapter 1.04 of this code.
