§ 2.16.010. Conduct as councilmember.

The mayor may make or second a motion and present and discuss any matter as a member of the council.

§ 2.16.020. Signature.

The mayor shall sign:

A. All warrants drawn on the treasury;

B. All written contracts and conveyances made or entered into by the city;

C. All instruments requiring the city seal.

§ 2.16.030. Administration of oaths and affidavits.

The mayor may administer oaths and affirmations, take affidavits and certify them under his or her hand.

§ 2.16.040. Acknowledgments.

The mayor may acknowledge the execution of all instruments executed by the city and required to be acknowledged.

§ 2.16.050. Mayor pro tem.

The council shall, by a majority vote of its membership, select a mayor pro tem within the one-month period following each general election. The term of office of the mayor pro tem shall be one year, or until the council selects a successor. The mayor pro tem has all of the powers and duties of the mayor if the mayor is absent or unable to act.

§ 2.16.060. Elected mayor.

The mayor shall be elected for a four-year term, and shall serve until his or her successor is elected and qualified.
