§ 2.36.010. Enforcement officer.

The office of enforcement officer of the city is created and established. The enforcement officer shall be appointed by the city administrator and shall meet the qualifications established for the position by the city administrator. The enforcement officer shall have the authority and duty to enforce the provisions of the City Code and ordinances of the city as may be from time to time designated or assigned by the city administrator. Pursuant to California Penal Code Section 836.5, the enforcement officer may make arrests for violation of such City Code or ordinances, and may issue citations for misdemeanors and infractions pursuant to California Penal Code Chapter 5C (commencing with Section 853.5) and South El Monte City Code Chapter 1.12. The enforcement officer shall concurrently have, with the duties and authority created by this section, all the duties and authority of the parking enforcement officer pursuant to California Code of Regulations Chapter 6.5. The enforcement officer shall be responsible for the proper performance of his or her duties to, and shall be subject to removal by, the city administrator.
