§ 9.08.050. Display of adult publications.¶
No person shall knowingly display for sale or knowingly cause or permit to be displayed for sale, any magazine, book or other publication containing illustrations of specified sexual activities or specified anatomical areas as defined in Chapter 17.04 of this Code, unless such magazine, book or other publication is stapled closed, sealed in a wrapper, or is by other means sealed in such a manner as to prevent its being opened prior to sale.

§ 9.08.060. Display of covers.¶
No person shall knowingly display the cover of a book, magazine, video cassette tape, compact disc or other publication or form of communication for sale, which cover illustrates a specified sexual activity or specified anatomical area as defined in Chapter 17.04 of this Code in any place where such cover may be readily viewed by persons under the age of eighteen years. Such cover shall be covered from public view when displayed in such location.

§ 9.08.070. Minors prohibited—Exception.¶
Section 9.08.050 shall not apply to any business which is not open to persons under the age of eighteen and which has a sign posted at each door intended for public entrance which reads:
| Notice. This business displays sexually explicit materials. Admission of persons under 18 years of age, unless accompanied by parent or guardian, is prohibited. |

The letters of such sign shall be a minimum of three inches high.

§ 9.08.080. Outward appearance of adult materials.¶
Section 9.08.050 shall not apply to any book, magazine or other publication which by virtue of its character, outward appearance or contemporary Los Angeles County countywide reputation would not cause the average adult person to reasonably know or suspect that it depicted specified sexual activity or a specified anatomical area as defined in Chapter 17.04 of this Code.
