Soledad Municipal Code Ch. 1.08 Datum Plane

The base or datum of the city for the purpose of providing a uniform system of elevations for streets, sidewalk curbs, sewer grades and public works is established as follows:

The city base or datum shall be sea level according to the United States Geodetic Survey, especially its "Bench Mark" which consists of an iron post with brass cap stamped "1908-185-B" standing in the northern boundary of the city limits and also in the northern boundary of the Southern Pacific Company's depot grounds and being forty-eight feet easterly from the centerline of the Southern Pacific Company's right-of-way (measured at right angles from such centerline), the top of such metal cap being one hundred eighty-five feet above sea level.
