2.10.010 - Authority to establish and maintain fire department.¶

The city of Soledad is hereby authorized to establish and maintain a fire department comprised of volunteers, paid employees, or any combination thereof. The number of members of the department may be changed from time to time by resolution of the city council in response to the changing needs of the city and/or any other entity to which service is provided.

2.10.020 - Authority to create and fill the position of fire chief.¶

The city council shall be empowered to create the position of fire chief. The fire chief shall be selected by the city manager on the basis of executive and administrative qualifications and ability and shall serve at the pleasure of the city.
