Simi Valley Municipal Code Ch. 2 Fees for the Construction of Dwelling Units

For the purposes of this chapter, unless otherwise apparent from the context, certain words and phrases used in this chapter are defined as follows:

(a) "Dwelling unit" shall mean and include each single-family dwelling and each separate habitation unit of an apartment, duplex, or multiple dwelling structure designated as a separate habitation for one or more persons, although a part of the same building or structure, and each space in a mobile home park.

(b) "Person" shall mean and include every person, firm, or corporation constructing a dwelling unit itself or through the services of any employee, agent, or independent contractor.

The Council hereby declares that the fees required to be paid after June 30, 1985, pursuant to the provisions of this chapter are to be utilized solely to provide funds for necessary street and road maintenance and police protection associated with the increase in the development of dwelling units within the City with the attendant increase in the population of the City. Such fees shall be subject to an annual review by the Council and shall be in an amount established by this chapter or by resolution.

Every person constructing any new dwelling unit in the City shall pay to the City the following fees:

(a) The sum of One Hundred Fifty and no/100ths ($150.00) Dollars for each dwelling unit containing not more than one bedroom and the sum of Seventy-Five and no/100ths ($75.00) Dollars for each additional bedroom contained therein; provided, however, the total fees for any new dwelling unit shall not exceed the sum of Three Hundred and no/100ths ($300.00) Dollars; and

(b) The sum of One Hundred and no/100ths ($100.00) Dollars for each mobile home.

The fees required to be paid by the provisions of Section 3-2.03 of this chapter shall be due and payable concurrently with the issuance of a building permit for the construction of any new dwelling unit; provided, however, there shall be a refund of such fees in the event the building permit is not used for such construction.
