13.08.010 - County library regulations.¶
A. It is unlawful for any person to engage in any of the following activities within or upon the premises of any county library:
Defacing, cutting, marring, or otherwise damaging any county library structure, furniture, equipment, or materials.
Damaging in any way the grounds and facilities around any county library.
Give other than his or her lawful name, address, and telephone number for checking out or receiving any county library materials or equipment.
Engaging in loud talking, shouting, fighting, horseplay, or any other behavior which interferes with the legitimate use of a county library or the duties of any county library staff.
Loitering within or upon the premises of any county library for the purpose of engaging in or soliciting any unlawful act.
Using any county library facility or the grounds thereof for the purpose of sleeping, bathing, shaving, or washing clothes.
Operating radios, televisions, tape or disc players, MP3 players, or similar sound-producing devices within any county library which can be heard by others in the county library.
Eating, drinking, smoking, or using chewing tobacco in any public area of any county library, except in areas expressly authorized by the county library staff.
Seeking or obtaining signatures on any petition, conducting surveys or investigations, distributing printed materials, or soliciting within the interior of the library.
Distributing printed materials, leaflets or flyers upon any windshield of any vehicle in the parking lots on the premises.
Bicycling, skateboarding, skating (including rollerblades and the use of roller shoes) or any similar activity within any county library or on the grounds of any county library.
Removing, relocating, or repositioning any county library equipment, facilities, tables, bookshelves, book stands, or other permanently placed equipment or facilities without permission of county library staff.
Remaining in any county library after closing.
Entering any county library without wearing shoes or a shirt or removing shoes or shirt while inside the county library.
Bringing an animal into a county library, with the exception of guide dogs, signal dogs, and service dogs as defined in section 54.1 of the California Civil Code or as otherwise permitted by law or regulation.
B. It is unlawful for any person to fail to obey a directive from library staff to cease and desist from violation of any regulation, statute, or ordinance applicable to the use of any county library or the grounds thereof.
C. For the purposes of this section, the term "county library" means the Shasta County branch libraries located in the city of Anderson and the town of Burney and any other Shasta County branch libraries that may be established by the county of Shasta. This section shall not apply to the Redding Municipal Library.
D. For the purposes of this section, the term "county library staff" means the staff or personnel operating the county library either as county employees or the person or entity and their employees operating a county library by contract or subcontract.
