Section 6-4.01. Restricted.

It is unlawful for any person to discharge any firearm, gun or rifle, or other gun or device discharging by the use of powder, air or springs, and bullet or shot of any kind, or any sling or slingshot in the City except in shooting galleries and on pistol and rifle ranges or other recreational facilities, the locations of which have been approved by the council; provided, that this section shall not apply to Police Officers acting within the scope of their official duties; provided further, that nothing in this section shall prohibit the discharge of a firearm by any person for the purpose of protecting or in the defense of persons or his or her home. Any person violating this section is guilty of a misdemeanor.
