Section 5-6.100. Board eliminated; purpose.¶
The Code Compliance Board established by Ord. 99-25 is hereby eliminated. In place of the Code Compliance Board, Hearing Officers will be used to adjudicate alleged violations of the City of Santa Maria's Municipal Code as identified by the City's Code Compliance Division by the issuance of administrative citations and/or compliance orders. The Hearing Officers will serve as volunteers without compensation and will be assigned hearings on a rotating basis to the extent possible. The purpose and duty of the Hearing Officers will be to determine whether violations of law or conditions which constitute a public nuisance exist pursuant to the Santa Maria Municipal Code, excluding Title 7, Chapter 7-2 and Section 7-5.04 (the Catering Vehicle Ordinance) and to order appropriate methods of abatement and/or the imposition of administrative penalties. Hearing Officers will also be empowered to review and reconsider any previous Code Compliance Board decisions should this be necessary.

Section 5-6.101. Appointment of Hearing Officers.¶
The City Manager shall appoint the Hearing Officers. Each Hearing Officer will serve at the will of the City Manager.
