10.52.010 - Purpose of regulations.

The city council does hereby find and determines that the public health, safety, interest, and welfare require and said city council does hereby fix, determine and establish the regulations and requirements set forth in this chapter for the conduct of any and every auto wrecking yard or other premises, building or place within the city, within which or upon which there is maintained, operated or conducted to any extent the business or occupation of maintaining and/or wrecking automobiles, motor vehicles or other vehicles, and/or dismantling the same or any part thereof and/or removing therefrom for storage upon the premises or for resale upon or from the premises or elsewhere in the city any of the parts or equipment thereof.

10.52.020 - Gasoline tanks—Limitation.

It is unlawful to store, keep, stack or otherwise maintain more than twelve (12) empty gasoline storage tanks (either attached to or removed from the vehicle of which the same is or was formerly a part) upon any portion of the premises or upon the whole thereof.

10.52.030 - Storage racks required—Height limit.

All parts or equipment removed from any vehicle or motor vehicle shall, when so removed, be placed and/or kept and stored in or upon a rack, the maximum height of which shall not exceed twelve feet (12′) above the ground level, and it is unlawful to store, keep or maintain said equipment or parts elsewhere upon the premises.

10.52.040 - Fence required.

In all cases where such business is not conducted exclusively within a building or other substantial enclosure, there shall be constructed and maintained along and around the exterior boundary of the lot or premises where said business is maintained, an open board fence not exceeding six feet (6') in height above the ground level, with maximum spaces of two inches (2") between boards.

10.52.050 - Storage of combustible materials prohibited.

It is unlawful to keep, store or maintain upon any part of the premises, lot or building, or to cause or permit to accumulate thereat any oil, petroleum products, rags, leather, cloth, hair or other padding or upholstering, paper, cardboard, wood or other inflammable or combustible materials.

10.52.060 - Burning prohibited.

It is unlawful to burn, ignite or dispose by fire any of the materials mentioned in Section 10.52.050 or any other materials upon any portion of the lot or premises.

10.52.070 - Location of racks and other storage facilities.

No rack or other storage place or facility nor any materials, parts or equipment shall be placed, kept or maintained at a distance closer than three feet (3') from the exterior fence or enclosure surrounding and enclosing the premises.

10.52.080 - Open spaces required.

Not less than six feet (6') of free space and/or unoccupied ground or area shall be kept and maintained between all racks or other places of storage and/or between each and all buildings and/or other structures upon the premises.
