6.70.010 - Taxicab defined.

"Taxicab" means a motor vehicle, as that term is defined in the Vehicle Code, used for the transportation of passengers for hire, when driven by the owner or by an agent of the owner at rates per mile, per trip, per hour, per day, per week, per month, or per other period of time, which vehicle is routed under the direction of the passengers or other persons hiring such vehicle.

6.70.020 - Taxicab operator defined.

"Taxicab operator" means a person engaged in the business of running, driving, or operating one or more taxicabs and soliciting or accepting passengers in such taxicab or taxicabs for hire, either at a taxicab stand or elsewhere, within the unincorporated area of the county.

6.70.030 - License required.

Every taxicab operator shall first procure a license and pay an annual license fee of eight dollars. A sticker shall be required for each vehicle.

6.70.040 - Application form.

Every application for a taxicab operator's license shall be signed by the applicant and shall contain:

(1) Name and address of the applicant;

(2) If the applicant is a corporation, the names and addresses of its directors;

(3) Location of taxicab stands requested;

(4) Places on private property, if any, where applicant intends to park taxicabs while awaiting passengers, and, if none, a statement of that fact;

(5) Area within which applicant proposes to operate;

(6) Kind and amount of public liability and property damage insurance covering each vehicle to be used for the acceptance of passengers for hire within the county;

(7) Taxicab color scheme and insignia;

(8) Owner's trade name and business address;

(9) Number of vehicles to be used for accepting passengers for hire within the county, their make, model (year), and seating capacity;

(10) Such further information as either the sheriff or the tax collector may require.

6.70.050 - Report by sheriff.

The procedure referred to in Section 6.24.050 et seq. shall apply to this section.

6.70.060 - Taxicab driver defined.

"Taxicab driver" means any individual who drives or operates a taxicab in which passengers are solicited or accepted for hire, either at a taxicab stand or elsewhere, within the unincorporated area of the county.

6.70.070 - License required.

Every taxicab driver who drives a taxicab for which a taxicab operator's license is required or has been issued shall obtain from the tax collector a taxicab driver's license.

6.70.080 - Application.

Every taxicab driver shall file with the tax collector an application for a taxicab driver's license, accompanied by two photographs of the applicant, one and one-quarter inches square, approved by the tax collector.

6.70.090 - Referral to sheriff.

Upon receipt of an application for a taxicab driver's license, the tax collector shall refer the application to the sheriff, who shall comply with the procedures set forth in Section 6.24.050 et seq.
