3-3.901 - Intent.

It is the intent of this article to provide for the assessment of fees for certain fire prevention activities.

3-3.902 - Scope.

Fees shall be charged for all of the following:

(a) Plan-checking and inspection services related to the installation of fire alarm and protection systems;

(b) Permits as required by the Uniform Fire Code; and

(c) Inspections required pursuant to the licensing of facilities by the office of the State Fire Marshal.

3-3.903 - Charges.

The amount of the fee charged shall be:

(a) The amount as adopted by resolution by the Council; or

(b) The actual costs incurred by the Bureau of Fire Prevention for outside plan-checking or inspection services.

3-3.904 - Time of payment.

The charges for the plan check, permit clearance, or inspection shall be due and payable at the time of the final inspection. The final inspection or permit will not be released until such fees are paid.

3-3.905 - Exemptions.

The following shall be exempt from the payment of fees:

(a) Any organization which has tax-exempt status from the Federal Internal Revenue Service or the State Franchise Tax Board; and

(b) Any plan check, permit, or inspection which, in the opinion of the Chief of the Fire Department, does not unduly impact the operation of the Bureau of Fire Prevention. If such exemption is used, the normal application process shall be completed with the reason for the exemption, and a list of exemptions shall be kept to standardize the same.

3-3.906 - Payment of fees.

The payment of fees generated by this article shall be collected by the Fire Department in legal tender of the United States. The moneys collected shall be deposited to the account of the Fire Department.
