1.12.010 City of Sacramento datum.¶
A. The hereinafter described group of monuments are designated as the official base of levels for the city of Sacramento. All grades of streets, buildings, sewers and other elevations shall be referred to said base of levels; and whenever in the provisions of this code or other city ordinance, orders, resolutions or enactments an elevation shall be named in feet, it shall be deemed to mean so many feet above or below mean sea level relative to the hereinafter established base of levels.
B. The monuments forming the base of levels are as follows:
A U.S. Geological Survey monument designated 147M located at the west entrance of the Post Office Building on I Street between 8th and 9th Streets. Elevation being 29.377 feet above mean sea level.
A U.S. Geological Survey monument designated 148M located at the east entrance to the Post Office on I Street between 8th and 9th Streets. Elevation being 29.383 feet above mean sea level.
A U.S. Geological monument designated 21B located ninety-seven feet southeast of the southeast corner of the State Capitol Building. Elevation being 21.378 feet above mean sea level.
A U.S. Coast and Geodetic monument designated "Sacramento" located in Plaza Park opposite City Hall. Elevation being 28.465 feet above mean sea level.
C. The datum plane established by the abovementioned monuments shall be known as and shall be referred to as "city of Sacramento datum." (Prior code § 1.01.080)
1.12.020 Base map-Adopted.¶
A. Adopted. The base map of the metropolitan area of the city, referred to and made a part of this section, as a part of the master plan of the city, such map having been prepared and approved by the city planning and design commission after the publication and notice and the holding of public hearings thereon, under and pursuant to the provisions of the California Planning Act, is approved and adopted.
B. Annual Changes by Director of Public Works. The director of public works is directed to at least annually make any and all changes occurring in the city metropolitan area which would affect the accuracy of the base map of the metropolitan area of the city. (Prior code § 1.01.090)
1.12.030 Old Sacramento area designated.¶
The public welfare necessitates an area or zone of special historical or cultural interest or value be established in this city. Pursuant to the authority conferred by Section 37361 of the Government Code of the state as enacted by Chapter 2015, Statutes of 1959, the city council designates the following described area as "Old Sacramento":
Beginning at the intersection of the westerly city limits of the city and the projection of the center line of I Street; thence easterly along said projection of the center line and along the center line of I Street to the intersection of the center line of Third Street; thence southerly along the center line of Third Street to the intersection of the center line of Capitol Avenue; thence westerly along the center line of Capitol Avenue to its intersection with the westerly city limits of the city; thence northerly along such city limits to the place of beginning.
Whenever the term "Old Sacramento" is used in this code, it shall mean the area hereinabove described. (Prior code § 1.01.100)
