6.36.020 - Registration—Five or less animals.

Any person keeping or maintaining five or less livestock of a particular kind shall report the following information to the animal control officer within five days after bringing such animal(s) within the city:

A. The type of each animal;

B. A general description of each animal;

C. The location where the animal(s) will normally be pastured or kept;

D. The name, address and telephone number of the person(s) owning the animal(s), if different from the person keeping or maintaining the animal(s);

E. The name, address and telephone number of a person to be contacted concerning the animal(s) in case of emergency.

6.36.030 - Registration—Five or more animals.

Any person keeping or maintaining five or more livestock of a particular kind shall report the information listed in Section 6.36.020 to the animal control officer, except that such information need not include a general description of each animal, but shall specify the approximate number to be kept in a specific location.

6.36.040 - Restrictions.

No person shall keep livestock unless:

A. It is upon premises upon which, pursuant to Chapter 17.78 of the zoning title, livestock may be kept, provided that the number of animals does not exceed the number permitted within the zone;

B. Such livestock are kept within a substantial fence or barricade which consists of any of the following:

  1. At least three barbed wires, evenly spaced, the top of which shall be at least four feet from the ground, and which shall be securely fastened to posts of metal or wood, the space between which is not greater than twelve feet,

  2. A chain link fence six feet in height,

  3. A solid wood fence six feet in height;

C. Any shelter provided for such livestock is at least one hundred and fifty feet from any adjoining building or structure;

D. At least six thousand square feet of area is provided for each animal.

6.36.050 - Grazing animals utilized for weed abatement.

The restrictions set forth in Section 6.36.040 above shall not apply to goats and sheep utilized for weed abatement purposes consistent with the city's weed abatement and open space management grazing program. It shall be unlawful for any person to engage in, conduct or carry on grazing activities, unless the person first obtains and continues to maintain in full force and effect a permit from the city evidencing enrollment and participation in the citywide weed abatement and open space management grazing program.
