3.12.010 - Cost-of-living adjustment required.

Notwithstanding any provision of any ordinance, resolution or policy to the contrary, all fees and taxes, excluding ad valorem real property taxes and any sales or transaction tax applicable to real property, for whatever purpose, currently imposed and collected by and/or for the city shall, commencing on July 1, 1978 and each July 1st thereafter, be adjusted by the amount of the cost of living, as determined by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Department of Labor, U.S. Government, for the San Francisco-Bay Area, for the year ending the preceding March 31st.

3.12.020 - Computation.

Any fee or tax adjusted under the provisions of Section 3.12.010 shall be computed as follows: For any flat fee or tax, the amount for the previous year shall be multiplied by the percentage adjustment in the cost of living and rounded to the nearest dollar.

3.12.030 - Fee and tax list.

The city manager shall keep a current list, available to any person upon demand, of the current fees and taxes, and the latest adjustment, if any, based on the cost of living.
