1.22.010 - Purpose.¶
The purpose of this chapter is to specify the permissible uses for the use of the official seal and other official insignia of the city of Rocklin.

1.22.020 - Definitions.¶
A. City Seal: The city seal shall be as adopted by city of Rocklin Ordinance No. 1 on March 13, 1893 which is as described in Section 1.16.010.
B. City Logo: The city logo of the city of Rocklin shall be as adopted by the city council of the city of Rocklin on February 10, 2015 as Resolution No. 2015-49, which is a five-pillar rock formation with the words underneath Rocklin California.

C. City Emblem: The city emblem used for official correspondence or business or the like shall be the railroad steam engine and spike with the words city of Rocklin and 1893 inscribed in a bordering circle as shown here:

D. City of Rocklin Website Banner: The city of Rocklin website banner shall be the picture of the city logo that appears across the top of the city's official website, http://www.rocklin.ca.us.
E. Other Official City Insignia: In addition to that listed above, other official city insignia shall be any other intellectual property right owned by the city, including the names of city facilities, the logos and official insignia of the city of Rocklin Police Department and city of Rocklin Fire Department, and logos designed by or for use on behalf of the city, all of which shall be on file in the office of the city clerk.

1.22.030 - Custody and use of the official seal and other city insignia.¶
A. The city clerk of the city of Rocklin shall have custody of the city seal, city logo, city insignia and all other official city insignia. The use of city seal, city logo, city insignia and all other official city insignia shall be for purposes directly connected with the official business of the city of Rocklin, its city council, officers or departments, and for those matters expressly approved by the city manager.
B. With the exception of uses of city seal, city logo, city insignia and all other official city insignia for purposes directly connected with official business of the city of Rocklin, it shall be unlawful for any person to use or allow to be used any reproduction or facsimile of the city seal, city logo, city insignia or other official city insignia, including any design so closely resembling the city seal, city logo, city insignia or other official city insignia as to be apt to deceive, without first having obtained the permission of the city manager.
C. The names of city facilities shall be used in accordance with their official purposes and it shall be unlawful for any person to use or allow the name to be used for private purposes without first receiving written approval from the city manager.

1.22.040 - Violations.¶
A violation of any provision of this chapter or a failure to comply with any mandatory requirements of this chapter is subject to prosecution in accordance with Title 1 of the Rocklin Municipal Code and may be enforced through criminal, civil, administrative, injunctive or other relief available by law. Criminal penalties for violations of the provisions of this chapter may result in up to a misdemeanor citation for each day in violation, punishable by a maximum of one year in jail and a one thousand dollar fine.
