5.30.010 - Scope.

This chapter shall regulate the conduct of any and all garage sales conducted on residential private property, and exempt from a special event permit, including but not limited to, sales conducted in a garage, or on the front, side or back yard.

5.30.020 - Garage sale defined.

"Garage sale" means a sale of used household or personal articles (such as kitchen utensils small appliances, furniture, tools, or clothing) held on the seller's own premises. The term "garage sale" includes sales commonly referred to as estate sales, driveway sales, yard sales, porch sales, and other such sales.

5.30.030 - Garage sale limitations.

A. No more than three garage sales may be held on any residential property in any one calendar year.

B. No garage sale shall be allowed within sixty days of another such garage sale on the property.

C. Garage sales are prohibited Mondays through Thursdays.

D. No single sale shall be conducted for longer than seventy-two hours.

E. Items offered for sale may only be displayed on the property, or in structures thereon, at which the sale is being held. Items for sale shall not be stored or displayed on the public right-of-way, nor encroach onto other property without permission of the property owner.

5.30.040 - Signs.

Signs advertising garage sales are exempt from a sign permit, but shall comply with the city of Rocklin sign code as set forth in Chapter 17.75, Signs on Private Property, and Chapter 17.80, Signs on Public Property.

5.30.050 - Violation; enforcement.

A. Anyone violating any provision of this chapter shall be subject to an administrative citation and fine as set forth in Chapter 1.14 of this code.

B. The code enforcement officer shall enforce the provisions of this chapter.
