6.12.010 - Administration.

These regulations shall be known as the "Code for the Seismic Retrofit of Hazardous Unreinforced Masonry Bearing Wall Buildings," may be cited as such, and will be referred to herein as "this chapter."

6.12.020 - Adoption by reference.

This chapter consists of Appendix Chapter 1 of the most recent triennial edition of the Uniform Code for Building Conservation that is published by and available from the International Conference of Building Officials. The most recent edition of said Uniform Code for Building Conservation, as of January 1st of any year, is adopted by reference the same as though fully set forth in this chapter, with amendments, additions and deletions per Section 6.12.040.

6.12.030 - Copies on file.

Three copies of the Code for the Seismic Retrofit of Hazardous Unreinforced Masonry Bearing Wall Buildings, as adopted by Section 6.12.020, and all amendments thereto, shall be kept on file in the office of the City Clerk for inspection by the public.

6.12.040 - Amends, additions and deletions.

(A) Sec. A102. (a) of this chapter shall be revised to read as follows:

"Sec. A102. (a) General. The provisions of this chapter subject to the limitations of Subsections (b) and (c) shall apply to existing buildings having at least one unreinforced masonry bearing wall. Except as provided herein, all other provisions of the Building Code shall apply.

"EXCEPTION: (1) Detached one- or two-family dwellings and detached apartment houses containing less than five dwelling units and used solely for residential purposes.

"EXCEPTION: (2) All existing dangerous buildings, historic or otherwise, that have experienced substantial earthquake related damage prior to the adoption of this chapter shall be repaired in full conformity with the Building code (contained in Chapter 6.04 of the Municipal Code of the City of Richmond) in effect at the time the permit for such repairs is issued."
