11.78.010 - Definitions.¶
For the purpose of this chapter, the definitions set forth in Section 11.76.020 shall be applicable to the provisions herein.
11.78.020 - Regulation of the repair, storage and parking of motor vehicles in residential areas.¶
Repair and storage of motor or recreational vehicles, trailers and boats in any district zoned R-1 (single-family residential), R-MD (residential medium density), R-2 (multiple-family residential) and R-3 (high rise residential) is prohibited except that:
(a) A person may service, repair or otherwise work (hereinafter referred to as "work") on any motor or recreational vehicle, trailer or boat (hereinafter referred to as the "vehicle") under the following conditions:
(1) The vehicle must be owned by a person who resides on the same parcel where the work is being done or owned by a member of such person's family;
(2) The vehicle owner must not do the work, or have the work done, on the vehicle as a business;
(3) The work must not take longer than 15 days;
(4) If the work exceeds 24 hours, (a) the work must be completely confined within a garage or carport or (b) the work must be screened from off-site view; and
(5) The work must not be done on the front yard area except on the driveway.
(b) A person may store tools, equipment, machinery, parts or other automotive materials (hereinafter referred to as the "tools") only under the following conditions:
(1) The tools must be owned by a person who resides on the same parcel where they are stored or by a member of that person's family;
(2) If the storage or parking exceeds 24 hours, (a) the tools must be completely confined within the garage or carport or (b) for periods not exceeding 15 days, the work must be screened from off-site view; and
(3) The tools must not be stored on or in the front yard area except on the driveway.
(c) A person may store or park operable motor or recreational vehicles, trailers or boats; provided, that the vehicles are parked in areas that are designated for parking on an approved site plan.
(d) A person may store or park an inoperable vehicle under the following conditions:
(1) The inoperable vehicle must be totally confined within the garage or carport or, for periods not exceeding 15 days, the inoperable vehicle must be screened from off-site view; and
(2) The inoperable vehicle must not be stored or parked on or in the front yard area.
11.78.030 - Chapter not exclusive regulation.¶
This chapter does not constitute the exclusive regulation of the repair, storage and parking of motor vehicles in residential areas within the city. This chapter shall supplement and be in addition to the other regulatory codes, statutes and ordinances heretofore or hereafter enacted by the city, or the state, or any other legal entity.
11.78.040 - Violation—Penalty.¶
Any person who violates any part of this chapter shall be guilty of an infraction.
