2-4-1: COMMISSION CREATED; PURPOSE:¶
A traffic safety commission in and for the city is hereby created. It shall consist of five (5) members. The commission shall be an advisory, investigative and fact finding body for the city council on matters relating to traffic safety, including vehicular parking restrictions in the public right of way and the implementation of the school traffic safety program. 2-4-2: MEMBERS:¶
A. Number And Appointment: Members of the traffic safety commission shall consist of the chief of police, a school district representative and three (3) citizens who are residents of the city. The three (3) citizen members shall be appointed by the mayor subject to the approval of the city council.
B. Terms: Citizen members of the traffic safety commission shall be appointed for a term of three (3) years.
C. Vacancies: Should a citizen member vacancy occur other than by expiration of term, it shall be filled by a commissioner appointed for the remainder of the unexpired term. Each commissioner shall hold office until his successor is appointed and qualified. (Ord. 791, 1-11-1994)
2-4-3: OFFICERS; MEETINGS:¶
The traffic safety commission chair and vice chair shall be resident/citizen members of the commission appointed at large. Meetings of the commission shall be held in accordance with the provisions of section 2-1-6 of this title. (Ord. 791, 1-11-1994; amd. 2007 Code)
