Sec. 6-111. - Definitions.¶
The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:
Pet shop means any place where pets are kept and offered for sale as part of the business of selling pets.
Pets means all dogs, puppies, cats, kittens, monkeys, canaries, parrots, parakeets, goldfish, tropical fish, chameleons, turtles and other such animals, fowl, fish and reptiles, including all other animals, fowl, fish or reptiles which, although they may not be of like kind, are kept, used or offered for sale as pets such as chicks, ducklings, rabbits and lambs.
The business of selling pets means raising or purchasing pets for the purpose of selling them at retail or wholesale for a profit.

Sec. 6-112. - Authority of shelter manager.¶
The shelter manager is authorized to enter upon the premises of any pet shop and inspect the premises at any reasonable time.

Sec. 6-113. - Operating requirements.¶
All owners and operators of pet shops shall:
(1) Post a notice, framed and enclosed under glass, legible from the sidewalk or ground level adjacent to the building, containing the names, addresses and telephone numbers of persons to notify any hour of the day or night who will proceed immediately to the location so as to permit entry to the premises by the shelter manager.
(2) Supply all animals with sufficient good and wholesome food and water as often as the feeding habits of such animals require.
(3) Keep quarters of all animals in a clean and sanitary condition and maintain adequate ventilation.
(4) Provide proper shelter and protection from the weather at all times and not allow animals to be overcrowded nor exposed to excessive heat or cold, keep quarters draftfree, and maintain proper temperature for the well-being of the animals at all times.
(5) Make provisions that the animals shall not be without attention over 18 consecutive hours.
(6) Use every reasonable precaution to ensure that animals are not teased or mistreated.
(7) Keep for sale or exhibition only animals, which are strong and healthy.
(8) Maintain animals in quarters so constructed as to prevent their escape, assume full responsibility for recapturing any animal that escapes and take all reasonable precautions to protect the public from the animals and the animals from the public.
(9) Isolate sick or diseased animals from healthy animals at all times.
(10) Not permit animals which are enemies by nature or which are temperamentally unsuited to be quartered together or so near each other as to cause the animal fear, torment or annoyance.
