§ 12.15.010. Purpose.¶
The purpose of this chapter is to create and enforce a house numbering system for the city of Point Arena as requested by numerous citizens and the utility companies operating within the city.

§ 12.15.020. Definitions.¶
For the purpose of this chapter:
(1) Words used in the present tense include the future as well as the present.
(2) The masculine gender includes the feminine.
(3) The singular includes the plural and the plural the singular.
(4) "Person" includes a corporation as well as a natural person.
(5) "Property owner" means any person who is the legal owner of any property in the city of Point Arena.

§ 12.15.030. Numbering system.¶
The city council hereby adopts a house numbering system by assigning a number to each main building now standing in the city of Point Arena and providing for additional numbers for buildings which may be erected in the future. A list of the house numbers shall be kept on file by the city clerk.

§ 12.15.040. Number legibility.¶
Every property owner shall place the numbers assigned to all buildings owned by him on his property so as to be clearly visible from the street, at his own expense. Said numbers are to be no less than three inches in height and of a material which can be viewed clearly from the street.

§ 12.15.050. Implementation.¶
After the passage of the ordinance codified in this chapter, and before its effective date, the city clerk shall notify every property owner of the numbers assigned to his buildings. Any property owner erecting a building in the city of Point Arena thereafter shall request the clerk to assign a number to his building.

§ 12.15.060. Number placement.¶
Said numbers are to be placed on the buildings, as prescribed under PAMC 12.15.040, within 90 days after the effective date of the ordinance codified in this chapter. Any property owner who erects a building after the effective date of the ordinance codified in this chapter shall place a number on the building within 90 days after the completion of the building.

§ 12.15.070. Penalty for violation.¶
Any person violating any of the provisions of this chapter is guilty of a misdemeanor and is punishable by a fine of not to exceed $50.00 or by imprisonment in the Mendocino County jail for not more than 10 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
