§ 8.02.010. Burning.¶
It is unlawful for any person, firm or corporation, acting for him, her, them or itself, or in any representative capacity, to burn grass or weeds or other vegetation from or upon any property within the City except between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. in piles no larger than four feet by four feet. Such burning shall otherwise be accomplished by close and continuous supervision thereof, in accordance with guidelines from the County Air Resources Board and, wherever necessary for the protection of property, by the provision of a plowed area at least six feet in width around the burn area, or 10 feet clearance from homes, structures, fences and propane tanks, or other provisions or regulations that might be required by the Fire Chief, or designee. Individuals must call (209)223-6246 before burning to ensure it is a valid burn day.

§ 8.02.020. Incinerators prohibited.¶
The use of burn barrels or incinerators is prohibited.

§ 8.02.030. Additional burning regulations.¶
A. Burn piles shall only contain dry, natural vegetation originating from the property.
B. Fires shall not be left unattended.
C. Burning may only occur between the hours of 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on permissive burn days. Individuals must call (209) 223-6246 to determine whether burning is allowed on that day.

§ 8.02.040. Effective dates.¶
This chapter, unless otherwise amended, shall be in effect annually from November 15 to and including May 15, unless otherwise declared a non-burning period by Cal Fire.

§ 8.02.050. Right of inspection.¶
The Chief of the Fire Department or his or her agents or assistants may at any reasonable time enter upon private property for the purpose of inspecting fire preventive measures in the particulars included within this said chapter.

§ 8.02.060. Violation—Misdemeanor.¶
Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in the sum not exceeding $1,000, or be punished by imprisonment in the County Jail of Amador County for a period not exceeding 30 days or both fine and imprisonment.
