6-9-1: PERIOD HELD BEFORE SALE:

With the exception of firearms and other property specifically regulated by statute, any unclaimed property held by the police department of the city shall be held by the police department for a period of at least ninety (90) days, and after said property has been held for the period as above set forth, such property shall be sold at the public auction to the highest bidder or disposed pursuant to the sections of this chapter. 6-9-2: NOTICE GIVEN:

Notice of any such sale shall be given by the chief of police at least five (5) days before the sale by publication at least once of the notice of sale in a newspaper of general circulation published in the city. (Ord. 1670, 4-28-2015)

6-9-3: RECEIPTS TO GENERAL FUND:

Any money received as a result of the sale shall be placed in the general fund of the city. (Ord. 1670, 4-28-2015)

6-9-4: DESTRUCTION:

Property deemed by the chief of police to have no monetary or salvage value may be destroyed after being held as provided for in section 6-9-1 of this chapter. (Ord. 1670, 4-28-2015)

6-9-5: PUBLIC USE:

If property described herein is deemed needed for public use, such property may be retained by the city and need not be sold. (Ord. 1670, 4-28-2015)
