§ 13.44.010. Truck route—Establishment.¶
Whenever any law of the city describes any street, or portion thereof, as a street, the use of which is designated for a commercial vehicle, the public works director shall erect and maintain appropriate signs on those streets affected.

§ 13.44.020. Restricted streets—Designation.¶
The city council designates all streets in the city, except those enumerated in Section 13.44.040, as streets on which any commercial vehicle of gross vehicle weight rating or gross combination weight rating over five tons is prohibited. The director of public works shall erect and maintain appropriate signs on those streets affected by this section where he deems the same to be necessary.

§ 13.44.030. Establishment.¶
Whenever any law of the city designates and describes any street, or portion thereof, as a street the use of which is permitted to any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross vehicle weight rating or gross combination weight rating of five tons, the public works director is authorized to designate such streets by appropriate signs as "Truck Routes" for the movement of vehicles exceeding a maximum vehicle gross weight rating or gross combination weight rating of five tons.

§ 13.44.040. Designation.¶
The city council designates certain streets, the uses of which are permitted by a commercial vehicle exceeding a maximum gross vehicle weight rating or gross combination weight rating of five tons or more. Those streets shall be known as "Truck Routes," and are described as follows:
Placentia Avenue, all portions within the city;
Rose Drive, all portions within the city;
Orangethorpe Avenue, all portions within the city;
Yorba Linda Boulevard, all portions within the city;
Lakeview Avenue, all portions within the city;
Imperial Highway (Route 90), all portions within the city;
Orange Freeway (Route 57), all portions within the city;
Crowther Avenue from Placentia Avenue to the east city limits;
Melrose Street from Orangethorpe Avenue to Crowther Avenue.
The foregoing "Truck Routes" shall be posted at all street entrances or part thereof affected in the manner required by Vehicle Code Section 21103.

§ 13.44.050. Use of restricted streets by commercial vehicles permitted for certain…¶
When any truck routes are established and designated by appropriate signs, the operator of any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross vehicle weight rating or gross combination weight rating of five tons or more shall drive on such routes and none other; except, that nothing in this section shall prohibit the operator of any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross vehicle weight rating or gross combination weight rating of five tons or more coming from a "Truck Route" having ingress and egress by direct route to and from restricted streets when necessary for the purpose of making pickups or deliveries of goods, wares or merchandise from or to any building or structure located on such restricted streets or for the purpose of delivering materials to be used in the actual and bona fide repair, alteration, remodeling or construction of any building or structure upon such restricted streets for which a building permit has previously been obtained therefor.
The provisions of this section shall not apply to passenger buses under the jurisdiction of the Public Utilities Commission, to any vehicle owned by a public utility while necessarily in use in the construction, installation or repair of any public utility, or to any public school bus.

§ 13.44.060. Penalties.¶
Any person violating any of the provisions of this chapter may be prosecuted for an infraction. Written citations for such infractions may be issued by police officers. Any person convicted of such an infraction under the provisions of this chapter shall be punished as follows:
(1) A fine not exceeding $100 for the first violation;
(2) A fine not exceeding $200 for the second violation of the same section within one year;
(3) A fine not exceeding $500 for each additional violation of the same section within one year.
