1.08.010 INTRODUCTION BY CERTAIN OFFICERS.

Ordinances may be introduced at any meeting of the City Council by a member of the City Council , the City Clerk, City Manager or City Attorney. Introduction and first reading may also be by the City Council designating the ordinances in the consent calendar. (Res. 1450 § 1, 1978).

1.08.020 DESIGNATION OF DATE FOR ADOPTION – NOTICE.

At the time of introduction, the City Council shall designate the date for considering the ordinance for adoption and shall provide the method of giving notice as provided in Section 1.08.070. (Res. 1450 § 2, 1978).

1.08.030 COMMENTS TO COUNCIL.

On the date set for considering the ordinance for adoption, the City Council may receive comments from the public, the staff and members of the City Council . (Res. 1450 § 3, 1978).

1.08.040 READING OF ORDINANCE – WAIVER.

Pursuant to the provisions of Section 36934 of the Government Code as amended, the City Clerk shall read the title of the ordinance and, thereafter, upon a motion adopted by majority vote of those Council members present, further reading may be waived. Otherwise, all ordinances shall be read in full at the time of passage. (Ord. 97-108 § 1, 1997: Res. 1450 § 4, 1978).

1.08.050 EXCEPTION TO PROCEDURES.

The procedures contained in this chapter shall not apply to urgency ordinances, the adoption of which is described in Section 36934 of the Government Code of the state. (Res. 1450 § 5, 1978).

1.08.060 CLERK TO PREPARE SUMMARIES.

Pursuant to the provisions of Section 36933(c)(1) and (2) of the Government Code of the state, the City Clerk is designated as the official to prepare summaries of proposed ordinances and amendments to existing ordinances of the city. (Ord. 377 § 1, 1978).

1.08.070 PUBLICATION OF ORDINANCES.

Unless specifically ordered otherwise by the City Council of the city at the time of introduction of an ordinance, the publication or posting of all ordinances shall be as provided in subsections (1) and (2) of subparagraph (c) of Section 36933 of the Government Code of the state. (Ord. 377 § 2, 1978).
