Mono County Municipal Code Ch. 10.20 Public Nudity

A. "Nude and exposed" or "nudity" means the exposure of genitals, vulva, pubis symphysis, pubic hair, buttocks, natal cleft, perineum, anus, anal region or pubic hair region of any person, or any portion of the breast of any female person at or below the upper edge of the areola thereof.

B. "Waters of Mono County" means lakes, ponds, rivers, streams, creeks or other similar conduits of water within the boundaries of Mono County.

No person over the age of ten years shall be nude and exposed to public view in or on any county right-of-way, county park, or other county land, or in or on any private property open to public view from any public right-of-way, public park, or other public land. This chapter also applies, to the extent that it does not conflict with state law, to the waters of Mono County.

This chapter shall apply to all nudity regardless of whether it is sexually motivated or otherwise lewd.

This chapter shall not apply to the following:

A. Nudity that is otherwise governed by County Code Section 5.45 pertaining to adult-oriented businesses.

B. Nudity in areas designated by the county as "clothing optional areas" to the extent that such areas are established by county resolution.
