IV. - Definitions

This list of definitions has been limited to those which are used most frequently and not listed in CEQA. A complete detailed list is available in CEQA Guidelines prepared by the state of California.

A. "Approving body" means the person or persons who have the authority in approving or denying the project. (Board of Supervisors or Planning Commission).

B. "Area of critical concern" is a geographic area of environmental sensitivity officially designated where categorical exemptions do not apply.

C. "Board" means the Board of Supervisors of Mono County or its designee as provided by Section 15025 of the CEQA Guidelines.

D. "County" means the County of Mono or its designee as provided by Section 15025 of the CEQA Guidelines.

E. "County project" means a project directly undertaken by the County as defined in Section 15337 of the CEQA Guidelines.

F. "Department" means the County Department of Planning.

G. "Director" means the County Director of Planning or his/her designee as provided by Section 15025 of the CEQA Guidelines.

H. "Environmental staff" is that person or persons responsible for preparing environmental documents in the County Department of Planning.

I. "Guidelines" means the guidelines described in Section I, as they now exist or may be amended.

J. "Planning commission" means the County Planning Commission or its designee as provided by Section 15025 of the CEQA Guidelines.

K. "Screen check EIR" means a draft EIR submitted to environmental staff for review of adequacy prior to release for public review and circulation.
