5.08.010 - Definitions generally.

The words, terms and phrases contained in this chapter, when used in Chapters 5.04—5.34, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this chapter, except where the context clearly indicates a definite meaning.

5.08.020 - Business.

"Business" means and includes any activity, trade, calling, profession or occupation engaged in by any person, or caused to be engaged in by him, with the object of gaining benefit, a profit or advantage directly or indirectly. "Business" shall not include activity by any vendor at any special event (e.g., Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, etc.) held for no longer than five calendar days. (Vendors selling food are referred to the requirements of Chapter 7 of this code.)

5.08.030 - Day.

For the purpose of Chapters 5.04—5.28 a day consists of twenty-four hours commencing at twelve noon and ending at twelve noon the following day. The periods of all annual licenses shall be for a full calendar year from date of issuance of license.

5.08.040 - Management entity.

Management entity shall be known as the owner and operator of the common areas in an approved condominium of multiple ownership structure.

5.08.050 - Motor vehicle.

"Motor vehicle" means and includes every self-propelled vehicle operated, or suitable for operation, upon a public highway.

5.08.060 - Multiple ownership structures.

"Multiple ownership structures" includes, but is not limited to, condominium or other multiple ownership applications coming within the jurisdiction of the Mono County planning commission, under the appropriate law governing the commission, when the same have been approved by the commission, together with the approval of the county board of supervisors, and the approval includes authority for the apartment or unit owner to lease for less than a thirty day period the individual apartments or units of the multiple ownership structure.

5.08.070 - Person.

"Person" includes individual natural persons, partnerships, joint adventures, societies, associations, clubs, trustees, trusts or corporations, or any officers, agents, employees, factors or any kind of personal

representatives of any thereof, in any capacity, acting either for himself, or for any other person, under either personal appointment or pursuant to law.

5.08.080 - Reservation service.

"Reservation service" means the business, as defined in this chapter, or the act of reserving or renting for a person, as defined in this chapter, any accommodations of a hotel or motel room, or a condominium apartment, for occupancy of less than a thirty day period only.
