Mendota Municipal Code Ch. 6.08 City Pound and Poundmaster

There is created the office of Mendota City Poundmaster, and the city poundmaster is directed and authorized to enforce each and all of the provisions contained in this title. The poundmaster shall receive as compensation for his service a sum hereafter to be arrived at and fixed by the city council.

The city council is authorized to enter into a contract with the Central California S.P.C.A. to act as the poundmaster of the city. A designated employee of the S.P.C.A. may be the poundmaster of the city, and designated employees, the deputy poundmasters.

There is created a Mendota city pound which shall be used for the purpose of properly housing and impounding such animals as may hereafter be taken up under the terms and provisions of this title.

It is unlawful for any person to loiter at any place within fifty (50) feet of the dog pound of the city.

It is unlawful for any person to tamper with or do damage to any of the facilities or structures of the dog pound of the city.

It is unlawful for any person to remove any dog, or cause any dog to be removed or released from the city dog pound without first complying with the provisions of Chapter 6.18 of this code.
