10.08.010 - Definitions.¶
For the purposes of this chapter, the following words have the meanings as set out in this section:
"Commercial vehicles" means, whenever used in this chapter, a vehicle of a type required to be registered as a commercial vehicle by the state of California Vehicle Code.
"Truck route" means, whenever used in this chapter, specified streets on which commercial vehicles may operate in or adjoining residential districts in the city, as specified in this chapter.

10.08.020 - Use of commercial vehicles.¶
Except along Marie Street or along truck routes designated in this chapter, it is illegal to operate a commercial vehicle, with a manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating of ten thousand (10,000) pounds or more, anywhere outside a manufacturing or industrial zone district.

10.08.030 - Truck routes.¶
The following areas are specifically designated as truck routes in or adjoining to the residential areas within the city:
A. Bass Avenue.
B. Belmont Avenue; from Derrick Avenue to Marie Street.
C. Guillen Parkway.
D. Marie Street.
E. Naples Street.
F. Ninth Street; from Oller Street to the Airport cul-de-sac.
G. Second Street; from Bass Avenue to Marie Street.
H. Tule Street; from Sixth Street to Seventh Street.
I. Sixth Street; from Tule Street to Derrick Avenue.
J. Seventh Street; from Tule Street to Derrick Avenue.
K. Airport Boulevard; from Ninth Street to Inez Street.

10.08.040 - Parking.¶
A. Curbside parking of a commercial vehicle, with a manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating of ten thousand (10,000) pounds or more, is prohibited anywhere outside a manufacturing or industrial zone district.
B. Curbside parking of commercial vehicles, with a manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating of less than ten thousand (10,000) pounds, is allowed subject to any other parking regulations affecting noncommercial vehicles.
C. Curbside parking of any vehicle can be prohibited within one hundred (100) feet of any intersection. Except for alleys, such prohibited curbside parking shall be signed and marked to give adequate notice thereof.
D. Off-street parking of a commercial vehicle, with a manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating of ten thousand (10,000) pounds or more, is prohibited anywhere outside a manufacturing or industrial zone district, except at a commercial establishment properly permitted for servicing, maintenance, or repairs to such vehicles, or in certain C-3 Central Business and Shopping Districts with an approved Administrative Review Permit. All off-street parking locations must provide for the proper entry and exit of the vehicle from the property without damage to publicly-maintained curbs, gutters, sidewalks, drive approaches, and streets.
E. Off-street parking of commercial vehicles, with a manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating of less than ten thousand (10,000) pounds, is allowed anywhere subject to any other parking regulations affecting noncommercial vehicles. All off-street parking locations must provide for the proper entry and exit of the vehicle from the property without damage to city-maintained curbs, gutters, sidewalks and drive approaches.

10.08.050 - Exceptions to chapter.¶
The provisions of this chapter regulating the operation and parking of commercial vehicles shall not apply to any commercial vehicle making pickups or deliveries of goods, wares and merchandise from or to any building or structure located on the restricted streets or highways. Nor shall this chapter apply to any commercial vehicle making delivery of materials to be used in the actual or bona fide repair, alteration, remodeling or construction of any building or structure upon the restricted streets or highways for which a building permit has previously been obtained. Nor shall this chapter apply to any vehicle owned or operated by or for the United States Postal Service while in use for collection, transportation or delivery of the United States mail, nor to any municipal vehicles being operated in the performance of an official duty.

10.08.060 - Servicing.¶
Commercial vehicles, with a manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating of less than ten thousand (10,000) pounds, may receive light service, on private property only, between the hours of seven a.m. and seven p.m. Such commercial vehicles must be owned by the person making the light service and the light service must be made on the owner's property. Light service is limited to oil change, tune-up and minor repairs. Specifically prohibited from light service is any welding. No commercial vehicle, with a manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating of ten thousand (10,000) pounds or more, may receive light service on any private property, except at a commercial establishment properly permitted for such service, or upon private property zoned for industrial or manufacturing use and for which proper permits have been obtained. No curbside service of any kind shall be permitted, except where a vehicle has become disabled, and only then for a period long enough to make the vehicle operational or to move the vehicle, and then not to exceed two hours.
