15.04.130 - Short title.¶
This article may be cited as the "city building code."

15.04.140 - Application.¶
The city building code shall apply to the construction, erection, enlargement, alteration, repair, moving, improvement, removing, conversion, demolition and use and occupancy of every building and structure in the incorporated territory of the city.

15.04.150 - Exempt buildings and structures.¶
A. The city building code shall not apply to any building or structures situated in an area zoned for agricultural use when intended and used to shelter livestock, poultry, farm implements, farm supplies or harvested crops. An exempt building or structure shall not be designed, constructed, intended or used for human occupancy or work situation nor shall it be attached to a dwelling. Building structures so exempt shall not be used for any other purpose unless qualified for a change of occupancy as prescribed in the building code.
B. An application for a permit to construct an agriculturally exempt building shall be filed with the building inspector for verification and certification of use which shall be subject to fees established for such purpose. Plot plans indicating size of buildings and location on property are required on application.
C. Location on property shall be in compliance with the building code and shall be subject to the requirements of the city zoning ordinance.
D. Before the building of a structure is commenced, a preliminary inspection shall be made to verify compliance with setback requirements. Inspection shall also be made to verify use of the building or structure.

15.04.160 - Adoption of Uniform Codes.¶
Ordinance No. G-9179 of the board of supervisors of the county of Kem, state of California which amends Chapters 17.04, 17.06, 17.08, 17.10, 17.12, 17.16, 17.20, 17.24, 17.26, 17.28, 17.32, 17.34, 17.36, 17.40, 17.44, 17.48, and 17.56 of the Ordinance Code of the county of Kern adopting the following uniform codes (or portions of same) is hereby incorporated by this reference into the building code of the city of McFarland: Building Regulations, Residential Code, Building Code, Green Building Standards Code, Mechanical Code, Housing Code, Plumbing Code, Electrical Code, Seismic Strengthening Provisions for Unreinforced Masonry Bearing Wall Buildings, Grading Code, Fire Code, Wildland-Urban Interface Code, Dangerous Buildings Code, Building Relocation Code, Mobile Home and Accessory Structures, Floodplain Management Code, and Energy Code. All amendments and repeaters of the foregoing chapters by the board of supervisors of the county of Kern hereinafter adopted by the board of supervisors shall be automatically incorporated herein without further action of the city council.
