3-6.01 - Definition.¶
For the purposes of this chapter, "unclaimed property" shall mean any personal property which has come into the possession of the Police Department and remains unclaimed for a period of at least six (6) months.

3-6.02 - Inventory.¶
The Chief of Police is hereby directed to keep and maintain an inventory of all property which comes into the possession of the Police Department and to keep a record of the date upon which the possession of such property is received, together with an identification and description of each article so received by the Police Department.

3-6.03 - Sale at public auction: Notice.¶
After any such unclaimed property shall have been held by the Police Department for a period of at least six (6) months, the Chief of Police is hereby authorized to sell such property at public auction to the highest bidder after notice of such sale has been given by the Chief of Police at least five (5) days before the time fixed therefor by publication once in a newspaper of general circulation published in the County.
The notice of sale shall fix the time and place of the sale, and such sale shall be held by or under the supervision of the Chief of Police.

3-6.04 - Sale at public auction: Proceeds.¶
The proceeds of any such public sale held pursuant to the provisions of this chapter shall immediately be paid to the Director of Finance for deposit in the General Fund of the City.
