§ 2.52.010. Appointment—Compensation.

The head of the fire department shall be known as "chief of the fire department" and shall be appointed, or designated if services provided by contract, by the city manager, and if appointed shall serve at the will and pleasure of the city manager and shall receive such compensation as may be fixed from time to time by resolution of the council.

§ 2.52.020. Fire chief—Powers and duties generally.

The fire chief shall exercise all the powers and perform all the duties that are now or may hereafter be conferred upon him by ordinance or by direction of the city manager. He shall be responsible for the government and discipline of the fire department and the members thereof and shall be charged with the care and custody of all property and equipment belonging or assigned to the department.

§ 2.52.030. Right of entry for inspection.

The chief of the fire department or his deputies shall have the right to enter upon any premises at all reasonable hours for the purpose of inspecting the same.

§ 2.52.040. Care of fire apparatus.

The chief of the fire department shall have general supervision of all the apparatus of the fire department and of all the repairs to be done and supplies to be furnished therefor, and of all matters connected therewith, and from time to time report the condition of the same to the council with such recommendations as he shall deem for the best interests of the department.
