6.16.010. - Impound authority.¶
The animal control officer may impound any animal, including any unlicensed dog or dog bearing no license tag, which may be found running at large off the premises of the owner of the animal and not in the presence of the owner of the animal. The animal control officer may impound any licensed dog or dog bearing a license tag which appears to be lost or strayed and the owner of which cannot immediately be located.

6.16.020. - Animal shelter established.¶
The Town Council shall establish or cause to be established by contract or agreement with a governmental agency, society, or organization for that purpose, a suitable place for the impounding of animals from the incorporated area of Town, which premises shall be considered as the animal shelter.

6.16.030. - Stray animals.¶
The animal control officer may impound any stray or abandoned animal, and thereupon hold and dispose of any such animal as provided in this chapter.

6.16.040. - Impounded animals.¶
Any impounded animal shall be under the jurisdiction of the County or any such entity contracted to serve as the Town animal shelter. The redemption, sale, destruction, or any other handling of impounded animals shall be subject to the fees, policies, and procedures of such entity or the terms of the contract or agreement establishing the partnership for the Town animal shelter.

6.16.050. - Unlicensed dogs; release from impound.¶
Prior to the release of any unlicensed dog, a fee shall be paid by the owner. Such fee shall be established by Town Council resolution.
