§ 2.08.010. Designation process.

The mayor shall be seated annually through a process designated by minute order.

§ 2.08.020. Town council meetings—Mayor pro tempore.

The mayor shall preside at the meeting of the town council. If he or she is absent or unable to act, the council shall appoint a mayor pro tempore, who shall serve only until the mayor returns or is able to act. The mayor pro tempore shall have all of the powers and duties of the mayor in his or her absence.

§ 2.08.030. Motions.

The mayor may make or second any motion and present and discuss any matter as a member of the town council.

§ 2.08.040. Documents requiring mayor's signature.

Except as otherwise may be provided by ordinance or resolution of the council, the mayor shall sign the following:

A. All written contracts and conveyances made or entered into by the town; and

B. All instruments requiring the town seal.

§ 2.08.050. Oaths.

The mayor may administer oaths and affirmations, take affidavits and certify them under his or her hand.

§ 2.08.060. Acknowledgment of instruments.

The mayor may acknowledge the execution of all instruments executed by the town and required to be acknowledged.

§ 2.08.070. Agendas.

The mayor shall meet with the town manager to review and finalize all agendas for meeting of the town council.

§ 2.08.080. Ceremonial capacity.

The mayor shall serve in a ceremonial capacity for those functions requiring town representation by an elected official.

§ 2.08.090. Appointments.

The mayor, with the approval of the town council, shall make all appointments to regional and county boards, commissions and committees unless otherwise specifically provided for by other provision of the council.
