§ 10.40.010. Establishment and Marking of Crosswalks.

A. The City Engineer shall establish, designate and maintain crosswalks at intersections and other places by appropriate devices, marks or lines, upon the surface of the roadway.

B. Other than crosswalks at intersections, no crosswalk shall be established in any block which is less than 400 feet in length and such crosswalk shall be located as nearly as practicable at mid-block.

C. The City Engineer may place signs at or adjacent to an intersection in respect to any crosswalk directing that pedestrians shall not cross in the crosswalk so indicated.

§ 10.40.020. Manner of Crossing Streets Generally.

No pedestrian shall cross a roadway at any place other than by a route at right angles to the curb or by the shortest route to the opposite curb except in a marked crosswalk.

§ 10.40.030. Use of Crosswalks in Business District Required.

No pedestrian shall cross a roadway other than by a crosswalk in the business district.

§ 10.40.040. Standing in Roadway.

No person shall stand in any roadway other than in a safety zone or in a crosswalk if such action interferes with the lawful movement of traffic. This provision shall not apply to any public officer or employee or any employee of a public utility when necessarily upon a street in line of duty.
