§ 5.16.010. Definitions.¶
For the purpose of this chapter, certain words and terms are defined as follows:
"Dance"
is a gathering of persons in or upon any premises where dancing is participated in either as the main purpose for such gathering, or as an incident to some other purpose or to which the public is admitted.
"Dance hall"
is a place where dancing is conducted, either for profit or not for profit, and to which the public is admitted, either with or without charge, or at which the public is allowed to participate in the dancing, either with or without charge.
"Dancing academy"
is a place where dancing is taught or conducted or permitted.

§ 5.16.020. Hours—Exceptions, permission from council.¶
No person shall conduct, or assist in conducting, any dance, dance hall or dancing academy within the city limits between the hours of twelve midnight and seven a.m. of any day, unless permission to do so is first obtained from the council.

§ 5.16.030. Admittance of police officers.¶
The police officers of this city are authorized and empowered to enter upon (free of charge) and inspect any premises where dancing is carried on in this city.
