17.06.010 Adopted.¶
There is hereby adopted by reference, except as provided in this Chapter, that certain Residential Code known and designated as the Los Angeles County Residential Code, Title 30 of the Los Angeles County Code, including all appendices, as adopted by the County of Los Angeles and in effect on January 1, 2023, incorporating the 2022 California Residential Code, including all changes made by the County of Los Angeles, and such Code shall be and become the Residential Code of the City of La Mirada, regulating and controlling the design, construction, installation, quality of materials, operation and maintenance. 17.06.020 Copy filed.¶
One copy of the Los Angeles County Residential Code, referred to in Section 17.06.010 of this Chapter, shall be deposited in the office of the City Clerk of the City of La Mirada and shall be at all times maintained by said clerk for use and examination by the public.

17.06.030 Terms defined.¶
Whenever any of the following names or terms are used in the Los Angeles County Residential Code, each such name or term shall be deemed and construed to have the meaning ascribed to it in this section as follows:
(1) "Board of Supervisors" means the City Council of La Mirada.
(2) "County" or "County of Los Angeles" or "unincorporated area" means the City of La Mirada.
(3) "Board of Appeals" or "Board of Examiners of Plumbers" means the Board of Examiners of Plumbers, Gas Fitters, and Sewerage Contractors of the County of Los Angeles established by the Los Angeles County Plumbing Code.
(4) "Building Department" means the "Building and Safety Division" of the Department of the County Engineer.
(5) "Building Code," "uniform building code" or "Los Angeles County Building Code" means the Building Code of the City of La Mirada.
(6) "Building Official" means County Engineer of the County of Los Angeles.
(7) "City" means the City of La Mirada.
(8) "Electrical Code" means the Electrical Code of the City of La Mirada.
(9) "Existing Building Code" means the Existing Building Code of the City of La Mirada.
(10) "Fire Code" or "Los Angeles County Fire Code" means the Fire Code of the City of La Mirada.
(11) "Green Building Standards Code" means the Green Building Standards Code of the City of La Mirada.
(12) "Health Code," or "Los Angeles County Health Code" means the Health Code of the City of La Mirada.
(13) "Mechanical Code" means the Mechanical Code of this Municipal Code.
(14) "Plumbing Code" means the Plumbing Code of the City of La Mirada.
(15) "Residential Code" means the Residential Code of the City of La Mirada.

17.06.040 Fee schedule; Modification by resolution.¶
Applicable fees shall be as adopted by separate resolution of the City Council of the City of La Mirada.

17.06.050 Penalties.¶
(a) It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, partnership, or corporation to violate any provision or to fail to comply with any of the requirements of this chapter or the code adopted hereby. Unless a violation is specifically designated as an infraction, any person, firm, partnership, or corporation violating any provision of this chapter or the code adopted hereby or failing to comply with any of the requirements shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine not exceeding one thousand dollars or by imprisonment. Each such person, firm, partnership, or corporation shall be deemed guilty of a separate offense for each and every day or any portion thereof during which any violation of any of the provisions of this chapter or the code adopted hereby is committed, continued or permitted by such person, firm, partnership, or corporation, and shall be deemed punishable therefor as provided in this chapter.
(b) Civil Remedies Available. A violation of any of the provisions of this chapter or the code adopted hereby shall constitute a nuisance and may be abated by the city through civil process by means of restraining order, preliminary or permanent injunction or in any other manner provided by law for the abatement of such nuisance.
