§ 6.28.010. Tax—Penalty for payment failure.¶
For failure to pay a license tax when due, the city clerk shall add a penalty of 20% of the original license tax on the last day of each month after the due date; provided, that the total penalty to be added shall in no event exceed 100% of the amount of the original license tax. In addition, interest shall accrue on any unpaid balance at the rate of 1.5 percent per month, unless otherwise set by resolution of the city council.

§ 6.28.020. Engaging in business without license—Remedies cumulative.¶
The conviction and punishment of any person for engaging in business without first obtaining a license to engage in such business shall not relieve such person from paying the license tax and penalty due and unpaid at the time of such conviction, nor shall the payment of any license tax prevent a criminal prosecution for willful violation of any provision of the business code. All remedies prescribed in this title are cumulative and the use of any one or more remedies by the city shall not bar the use of any other remedy for the purpose of enforcing the provisions of the business code.

§ 6.28.030. Misrepresentation of fact.¶
No person shall knowingly or intentionally misrepresent to any officer or employee of the city any material fact in procuring a business license, business license card or permit, or duplicate business license. Any such misrepresentation shall constitute a misdemeanor.

§ 6.28.040. Place of business—Examination.¶
A. The city clerk, in the exercise of his or her duties hereunder, may examine all places of business in the city to ascertain compliance with the business code.
B. Any person having a business license in his or her possession or under his or her control who willfully fails to exhibit the same on demand is guilty of a misdemeanor.

§ 6.28.050. License tax debt to city.¶
The amount of any license tax and penalty imposed by the business code is deemed a debt to the city. An action on the debt may be commenced in the name of the city in any court of competent jurisdiction.
