5.48.010 - Fire inspection services

Not less than annually, the city fire department shall inspect or cause to be inspected for Uniform Fire Code enforcement purposes each building and premises which is utilized for or is zoned for commercial uses under the city zoning code, herein referred to as "business property." The term "business property" includes buildings and premises which, although not commercially utilized or zoned, are available for public occupancy or are utilized for commercial purposes such as home occupancies.

5.48.020 - Fire inspection fee

The fee for fire inspection services shall be established by resolution of the city council based upon the recovery of inspection costs incurred by the fire department in making the inspection, preparation of reports and following up on corrective measures.

5.48.030 - Liability for fees

It is hereby found and determined that the inspection of business property for fire code compliance purposes benefits the owners, as well as the occupants, of such property and such owners and such occupants are jointly and severally liable for such inspection costs. The fees constitute an indebtedness owed the city and the fire chief is directed to employ such means of collection as are authorized by law.

The city fire chief shall be responsible for the administration of this chapter.
