§ 8.12.010. Hog cholera—Determination—Action.

Whenever the fact has been determined by the county livestock inspector or by the State Veterinarian or any of his deputies, that the disease known as cholera exists among the hogs owned or in the control of any resident of this county, any of the officers shall have the right to quarantine all of the hogs on the premises where the disease exists, and during the existence of such quarantine, a placard shall be attached on the fences near the entrance to such premises, which placard shall state in plain language as follows: "Warning - Hog Cholera Exists Among Hogs On These Premises."

§ 8.12.020. Hog cholera—Quarantine.

Whenever hog cholera virus has been injected into hogs, the premises where such hogs are kept shall likewise be quarantined for a period of not less than fifteen days nor more than thirty days, and during the continuance of such quarantine the fences near the entrance of such premises shall be placarded, which placards shall state in plain language as follows: "Warning - Hogs On These Premises Have Been Vaccinated with Hog Cholera Virus and are Capable of Transmitting Hog Cholera Infection."

§ 8.12.030. Hog cholera—Quarantine notice—Interference prohibited.

During the continuance of the quarantine, as provided for in Sections 8.12.010 and 8.12.020, it is unlawful for any person or persons to tear down, deface or in any other manner whatsoever interfere with the placards so placed on such quarantined premises.

§ 8.12.040. Cremation required.

The carcasses of every hog in this county which dies from any cause whatsoever shall be cremated. In all instances it is unlawful to allow the carcass of any hog to remain undisposed of by cremation after sunset of the day on which the animal died.

§ 8.12.050. Health certificate required.

No swine shall be imported into the county unless such swine are accompanied by a certificate of health, issued by a qualified veterinarian, stating that they are free from cholera and all other infectious and contagious diseases, and that they have not been exposed to cholera or other infectious or contagious disease for a period of ninety days before they were offered for shipment into Inyo County; and provided, further, that the cars or other vehicles of transportation into which such swine are loaded, shall have first been cleaned and disinfected with five percent solution of carbolic acid or three percent solution of cresol compound, U. S. P. Any swine vaccinated within thirty-six days prior to their arrival in Inyo County shall be quarantined for fifteen days after their arrival, and any swine shipped or brought into Inyo County shall be quarantined for thirty days after their arrival.

§ 8.12.060. Violation—Liability.

In any action arising under this chapter any and all persons having an interest in the hogs, or in control or possession of the same, shall be liable for such violation of the provisions of this chapter.

§ 8.12.070. Violation—Penalty.

Any violation of this chapter or any part thereof is a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof is punishable as provided in Section 1.20.010.
