§ 17.28.010. Enforcement responsibility.

The City Community Development Director, or his authorized representative, shall see that this Title is enforced. He shall not permit, and shall abate, any sign within the City which fails to meet the requirements of this Title or other applicable law.

§ 17.28.020. Abatement procedure for illegal signs.

(a) Temporary Illegal Sign. The Community Development Director, or his authorized representative, shall remove any temporary sign for which a sign permit has not been obtained as required by this Title.

(b) Permanent Sign. The Community Development Director, or his representative, shall notify the owner or user of a permanent sign which has been installed without acquiring a sign permit that the illegal sign shall be removed within ten (10) days.

(c) Right to Appeal. Upon receipt of this notice, the owner or use of a permanent sign that is determined to be illegal does have the right to appeal the decision pursuant to Section 17.36.010 and 17.36.020.

(d) Confiscation and Storage Charge. Additionally, illegal signs may be confiscated by the City and held pending notification of the owner by the City. The owner may obtain said signs from the City Manager or his designated representative upon payment of confiscation and storage charge in an amount established by the City Council resolution. If such sign is not picked up from the City after thirty (30) days and all fees are paid, the City will dispose of such sign.
