13.04.010 - Natural gas service required.

From the effective date of the ordinance codified in this section, every residence including permanent mobilehome installations or business within the City limits of the City of Huron must connect to the natural gas service provided to residential and commercial users within the City limits. "Permanent mobile home installation" is defined as a mobilehome installation which is intended to stay in the City for period to exceed six months. Provided, however, as existing residential and commercial use, if natural gas hook-up is not available within a distance of two hundred (200) feet or more, then propane may be used as a fuel source. This exception however, shall be available only to the residence or business currently utilizing propane service and shall terminate upon the earliest of the following:

A. In the event of the sale to a new individual or business; or

B. In the event of any substantial construction on any property located within the City limits which is not connected to natural gas, then this exception shall immediately terminate and the new owner or current owner as a condition of issuance of a building permit shall be required to connect to the City's natural gas service;

C. Two years after the enactment of the ordinance codified in this section, all residential and commercial users must connect to the City's natural gas service if they have not otherwise done so.

13.04.020 - Consolidated water, sewer and garbage service required.

A. From and after the effective date of the ordinance codified in this section, all residential and commercial developed property must have consolidated water, sewage and garbage service.

B. The payment of the consolidated water, sewer and garbage billing shall be attributed as follows:

Money shall be first credited to the outstanding sewer balance, then to the oldest garbage bill and then to the oldest water bill on a monthly basis.

C. The city may discontinue any or all of the consolidated services for failure to pay any one of the consolidated services.
