12.09.010 - Streets designated.¶
A. The following streets within the City are hereby approved as designated truck routes:
Larsen Avenue (Hwy. 269) from the southerly City limits to the northerly City limits;
9th Street from Lassen Avenue to the easterly City limits;
Palmer Avenue from Lassen Avenue to the easterly City limits;
M Street from 9th street to 10th Street;
Huron Avenue from Lassen Avenue to its easterly termination;
10th Street from Lassen Avenue to its easterly termination points;
First alleys parallel to Lassen Avenue on both east and west sides immediately behind commercial districts and those portions of streets connecting with Lassen Avenue to include Tornado Avenue, Cherry Avenue, Apple Avenue, Railroad Avenue and 4th Street;
Central Avenue form 4th Street to Huron Avenue.
B. The city council finds that the erection of signs on the streets designated as truck routes shall best serve to give notice of this chapter. The city engineer is authorized to designate such streets as truck routes by the erection of appropriate signs.
C. All commercial vehicles in excess of ten thousand pounds gross vehicle weight shall be required to drive on a designated truck route as specified in subsection A above while within the City.
D. This chapter shall not prohibit any commercial vehicles coming from an unrestricted street having ingress and egress by direct route to and from a restricted street when necessary for the purpose of making pickups or delivery of goods, wares and merchandise from or to any building or structure located on the restricted street or for the purpose of delivering materials to be used in the actual and bona fide repair, alteration, remodeling or construction of any building or structure upon the restricted street for which a building permit has been obtained.
E. Violation of any of the provisions of this chapter shall be unlawful and constitute an infraction, any person convicted of violating any provisions of this chapter shall be punished by (1) a fine not exceeding fifty dollars ($50.00) for a first violation; or (2) a fine not exceeding one hundred dollars ($100.00) for a second violation of the same chapter within one year; or (3) a fine not exceeding two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00) for each additional violation of the same chapter within one year.
