§ 13.24.010. Procedure.¶
Any consumer may demand that the meter through which water is being furnished be examined and tested by the department for the purpose of ascertaining whether or not it is registering correctly the amount of water which is being delivered through it. Such demand shall be made upon an approved form furnished by the department. Upon receipt of such demand, the department shall examine and test the meter for accuracy of registration. If, upon such examination and test, the meter is found to be registering water within tolerances specified by the meter manufacturer, the water bills shall be paid as rendered and a meter test charge shall be assessed to the consumer of record. The amount of said meter test charge shall be set by policy of the water department based on estimated cost plus fifteen percent administrative charge. If, upon such examination and test the meter is found to be registering in excess of tolerances specified by the meter manufacturer, another meter shall be substituted and the water charges shall be adjusted in such a manner as the superintendent may deem fair and just.
