§ 6.24.010. Sales of fowl as novelties in public places.

It is unlawful for any person to display, sell, offer for sale, barter or give away upon any street, sidewalk or other public place in the city any rabbits, baby chicks, ducklings or other fowl as pets or novelties, whether or not dyed, colored or otherwise artificially treated. § 6.24.020. Sales of dyed and colored fowl.

No person shall sell, offer for sale, barter or display any rabbits, baby chicks, ducklings or other fowl which have been dyed, colored or otherwise treated so as to impart to them an artificial color.

§ 6.24.030. Care of fowl for sale.

No person shall sell, offer for sale, barter or give away any rabbits, baby chicks, ducklings or other fowl unless such person provides proper brooder facilities for the care of such baby chicks, ducklings or other fowl during the time they are in the possession of such person. § 6.24.040. Age and quantity of fowl for sale.

No person shall sell, offer for sale, barter or give away any rabbits, baby chicks, ducklings or other fowl under four weeks of age in any quantity less than six. (Prior code § 5-1.804)

§ 6.24.050. Sales of fowl for food purposes.

The provisions of this chapter shall not be construed to prohibit the display or sale of rabbits, natural chicks, ducklings or other fowl in proper facilities by dealers, hatcheries or stores engaged in the business of selling the same to be raised for food purposes. (Prior code § 5-1.805)

§ 6.24.060. Sales of small animals and fowl on streets and sidewalks.

It is unlawful for any person to display, sell, offer for sale, barter or give away upon any street or sidewalk of the city as pets or novelties:

  • A. Any fish, turtles, snakes, lizards, chameleons or other reptiles; and

B. Any birds, cats, dogs, fowl, guinea pigs, rodents or other animals. (Prior code § 5-1.806)

§ 6.24.070. Sales of animals and fowl by licensed dealers.

The provisions of this chapter shall not be construed to prohibit the display or sale of animals, birds, fish or reptiles legally for sale in licensed pet shops, kennels, aviaries or fish hatcheries. (Prior code § 5-1.807)
