Galt Municipal Code Ch. 15.28 Fire Code

This chapter was repealed and replaced by Ordinance 2026-01; however, Sections 15.28.055 through 15.28.120 were reinstated by the city as was intended.

A. Whenever the word "Fire Code" is used in this chapter, it shall mean the 2025 California Building Standards Code, Title 24, California Code of Regulations, Part 9 (California Fire Code), in its entirety including, without limitation, Appendix Chapter 4, Appendix B, Appendix BB, Appendix C, Appendix CC, Appendix H, Appendix N, Appendix O, and such portions as hereinafter added, deleted, or amended by the City of Galt and the Cosumnes Community Services District Fire Department.

B. Wherever the words "municipality" or "jurisdiction" is used in the Fire Code, it shall mean the City of Galt.

C. Wherever the words "Chief" or "Chief of the bureau of fire prevention" are used in the Fire Code, they shall mean the chief of any fire protection district or a community service district that has a fire department or their designated representatives, within their respective jurisdictions.

D. Wherever the phrase "Fire Code of the Cosumnes Community Services District Fire Department" is used it shall mean the Fire Code of the City of Galt.

There is hereby adopted by the City Council of the City of Galt for the purpose of prescribing regulations governing conditions hazardous to life and property from fire or explosion, that certain code known as the 2025 California Building Standards Code, Title 24, California Code of Regulations, Part 9 (California Fire Code), in its entirety including, without limitation, Appendix Chapter 4, Appendix B, Appendix BB, Appendix C, Appendix CC, Appendix H, Appendix N, Appendix O, and such portions as hereinafter added, deleted, or amended. Not less than one copy of such code has been and now is filed with the Clerk of the City of Galt. From the effective date of the ordinance codified in this chapter, the provisions thereof shall be controlling within the limits of the City of Galt except that any inconsistent regulations and ordinances adopted pursuant to applicable law by a fire protection district or a community service district having a fire department within the City shall be controlling by the city within that district's jurisdictional areas.

At least one copy of each primary code and of each secondary code pertaining thereto, all certified to be true copies by the Building Official, shall be filed at the Building Department office and shall be kept there for public inspection during regular business hours.

The findings of fact are filed separately with the California State Fire Marshal's Office, State Department of Housing and Community Development and the City of Galt.

All former fire prevention ordinances or parts thereof conflicting or inconsistent with the provisions of this chapter or of the code hereby adopted are hereby repealed.

The City of Galt hereby declares that should any section, paragraph, sentence, or word of this chapter or of the code hereby adopted be declared for any reason to be invalid, it is the intent of the Board that it would have passed all other portions of this chapter independent of the elimination therefrom of any such portion as may be declared invalid.
