5.08.010 - Placement of numbers—Size—Removal.

All entrances from public streets in the city to buildings shall be numbered as provided in this chapter.

The number of each front entrance shall be placed upon or immediately above, or at the side of the door or gate crossing the entrance.

Each figure of the number shall be at least two inches in height and of a width commensurate with the height.

The appropriate number of any entrance to any building shall be placed thereon within five days after the receipt by the owner, occupant, lessee, tenant or subtenant of such building of a notice from the city clerk of the number or numbers designated for such building, and all numbers other than the numbers provided for in this chapter for the respective entrances shall be removed from every building by the owners, occupants, lessees, tenants or subtenants thereof within five days from the service of the notice designating the appropriate numbers to be placed thereon. It shall be the duty of the city clerk to designate the respective numbers for buildings fronting on streets heretofore laid out or hereafter to be laid out or extended.

5.08.020 - Starting points.

The following shall be the respective starting points for numbers on buildings fronting on streets heretofore laid out or hereafter to be laid out:

From south to north, the southerly boundary line of the city shall be a starting point, and from east to west the centerline of Kellog Street and the northerly prolongation of the same shall be the starting point.

Numbers shall begin at the above named starting points and continue to the termini of the respective streets.

5.08.030 - Odd and even numbers.

The numbers on the northerly and westerly sides of the streets shall be odd numbers and the numbers on the southerly and easterly sides of the streets shall be even numbers.

5.08.040 - Block defined.

A block, within the meaning of this chapter, shall be that portion of any street between two abutting streets, providing that all blocks of excessive length shall be considered as two blocks, and the numbers shall conform to those shown on Map No. 557, referred to in Section 5.08.060.

5.08.050 - Numbers per block—Feet per number.

One hundred numbers, or as many thereof as shall be necessary, shall be allowed to each block. Twenty feet of frontage shall be allowed for each number.

5.08.060 - Map No. 557.

Map No. 557, showing the numbering of buildings fronting on public streets in the City of Fillmore, which map more particularly shows the method of numbering buildings in the city as outlined in this chapter is adopted as the official map for numbering buildings in the city, and made a part of this chapter. Said Map No. 557 is referred to and shall govern as to all details for said numbering.
